m'girl: "The canal has overflowed."
The rain started about an hour ago but the road is like a river now, it looks like there is at least a foot of water on the road itself. The vehicles are moving very slowly if at all. Sirens from fire appliances and police vehicles, some horns from motorist, thunder and rain drops are all we hear.

Am waiting for pet food delivery. Almost ran out to the other apt with shoes and scarves. Am trying to move all my scarves, shoes and scent bottles myself since they aren't too large or heavy (and will send the insurance cost into realms not covered by my bank account). Oh, but how I am mistaken about the ease with which I will carry boxes of shoes and scarves. I might be able to twill a scarf box with one finger, but twenty-five risks joint dislocation. Adding insult to injury is that I haven't lost a gram staggering from apartment to apartment.
Hmm.. do I have a photo of the new place?

See that sharp pokey thing? It's the Gateway, West or East. It attracted a lot of talk when it was being built. Designed by I. M. Pei, we had the 'how wonderful, we have worldclass architecture' as well as 'Singapore architect not good enough?' discussion camps. Then the sniggering (at the people commissioning it) and horror (of the feng shui following) because the building looked like a blade, which will presumably cut into your business profits, your life, or worse - your neighbouring communities'. Well, it's about 20 years on now and still standing. Still, maybe there's something to those feng shui rumours - the date on which this photo was taken was 2009, 08(Aug), 04, which in Cantonese can be read as 'easily forever your prosperity will die'. I'll keep you all updated.

Yesterday there was a lake in the dining room in the other apartment, and the wall between the kitchen and the dining room had water seeping out of it. The paint had blistered, small dots to ones the size of saucers, and was peeling off. The water was turned off at the mains but I had blanched, visions of my downstairs neighbours-to-be's wiring, ducting, and ceiling insulation immersed in water floating round my head. Then I came home to find my son back from army camp laid out, face white beneath his tan and lips blue. We went to ER at Tan Tock Seng. Normally I'd leave him passed out at home, but these days there's something called the H1N1 virus. Ambulances were rolling up. Under a huge tent were rows of trolley beds (which I found out were called 'Stryker beds'), wheelchairs (which are 'trolleys'), staff with masks on. Everyone had masks on. Soon we too. M'boy was trundled off to registration, went to two examination rooms before he finally was seen to by a doctor, upon which he was to be warded for monitoring. He refused (all this time he insisted he wasn't as sick as we thought, inbetween passing out). Anyway home he came, armed with MCs and a letter of remonstration of his not staying in from the doctor for his army medical unit. And it was m'girls birthday!! Poor baby.

9:11 pm - So, lately I've been...

Isn't it gorgeous? The Bohemian Cats Calendar 2010. I was browsing through Baba Store and this was one of many beauties I came across. I'm going to ask if Kino will be bringing it in, maybe if enough people enquire they will. For sure the calendar will be squished into my mailbox by our zealous postie. I rather not have the 'vintage' crackling effect. :/
M'girl will be cosplaying as Vietnam tomorrow!
We'll be moving to another apartment in a few weeks, so most monies have been channeled thataway. M'girl and I did go watch the new Transformers movie, and we enjoyed it.
Will write more some other time. Having mentioned the move brings to mind the fixing up bit which is depressing me..
